Make a Living With Photography

“If a picture is worth a thousand words then why can’t the thousands of pictures, collectively worth lacs of dollars?” Well, this is what exactly came to my mind when I realized I am crazy about photography.

When I started pursuing my photography passion for full-time, the biggest challenge I had was earning money, how to make money with photography? For a couple of months, I didn’t find any way out, believe me. I was shattered, hopeless and at a certain point of time, made half of mind to quit it and switch back to the ordinary 9 to 5 work to make some money for living.

But you know, when there is a will, there is a way. So I decided to give myself one more month, and guess what? I found more than many ways to make a living with photography that I am gonna put down in this post right here….

1. Stock/Microstock Photography

Stock photography or microstock photography is massively popular in this web world. A lot of website owner who owns a website for different business purposes require some genuinely great images. So when they need it, they find it through the stock or microstock photo websites such as Shutterstock, Getty Images, istockphoto and much more where you can upload your original work. If your images get a good purchase, you get good money.

2. Wedding Photography

A wedding is a once in a lifetime affair so people are open to spending more money on this. You just have to attend random parties as a wedding photographer and see a good amount of money floating in your bank account. But if you are not a wedding type of photographer, this is not for you.

3. Through Travelling

What if you get opportunities to explore the best of the world through travelling and get paid for this? Sounds amazing? Well, there are lots of traveller photographers who are specially hired for this purpose. Let’s take Dylan Stewart for instance who runs a creative agency, Travelling next Level. A resident of San Diego, CA, Mr. Dylan Stewart at Travelingnextlevel.com produces photography and videography for the hospitality industry and is specifically geared towards social media. You won’t believe but this is how he funds his travels. He works for the different brands and companies that pay him for the professional social media content.

4. Through Portfolio Photography

There are many crazy folks out there who want to be a model, actor, and always want to look at their best in the portfolio. Find those people, show them your work and win the deal. Every time they call you, you get good money. Remember, they will only look at their best when you will take their best clicks. So have a good hand on the camera and start earning.

5. Sell Your Photos Just Like That

What’s that? Don’t be confused! This is a kind of freebie thing initially, I would ask you to give a try. Take some random well-timed pictures of your friends and relatives. Show them, and give it to them for free. Remember you have nothing to lose but this practice can label you as a great photographer among them. And they won’t mind recommending your name whenever asked by anyone for a photographer.

6. Youtube Channel

This is trending man. I have seen people making a whole lot of money from youtube. Be a content creator, make a channel, upload some eye bubbling photos & videos regularly, and wait for the people to go gaga over them. Once the audience liked your work, they will follow you, subscribe, advertisers will pay you to display their ad on your channel.

Best of Luck!
