The chief entrance gate of Badrinath temple is absolutely colourful and impressive popularly called Singhdwar. This temple is about fifty feet tall along with a tiny cupola on the top, enclosed with a gold gilt roof.  This temple is divided into three portions namely the Garbha Griha, the Darshan Mandap wherein the rituals take place and the Sabha Mandap wherein the devotees are assembled.

At Gate, right in the opposite of main Idol of Lord himself is placed the idol of Bird Garud. Bird Garud is the vehicle of Lord Badrinarayan.  Lord is sitting in prayer with the hands folded.  The pillars and walls of this mandapa are roofed with distinct carvings. All in all, the entire temple and all its portions are dipped into artistic richness and beautiful designs.

Vibrant Poojas

Talking about the pujas, special pujas are conducted on the behalf of devotees. Each of the pujas must be preceded by a sacred dip in Tapta Kund. A few of the morning pujas are like Adhishek, Mahabhishek, Gitapath and Bhagwat Path.  Similarly if you talk about the evening pujas, they are like Geet Govind and Aarti.  Different from the, most of the Hindu temples, all the pujas here including decoration of the idols are conducted in presence of devotees. This is really exciting and prestigious for the devotees gathered there.

What about Kedarnath Temple?

Kedarnath temple is the highest aboard.  It is one of the most respected pilgrimages of the Hindus is undoubtedly Kedarnath Temple. This temple is snuggled in the majestic and lofty Garhwal Himalayan ranges and is one of the four main sites establishing the Chota Char Dham pilgrimage of the Northern Himalayas in India. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and it is open just for a restricted period of time between end of month of April and the autumn full moon, generally November. It is because of extreme weather conditions.  The deities of this temple, during the time of winter, are shifted to Ukhimath wherein they are preserved and worshipped for six months. Lord Shiva is Kedarnath or the ‘Lord of Kedar Khand.’

This beautifully and tastefully adorned temple Kedarnath is dedicated to the personifications of Lord Shiva. Kedarnath is named after King Kedar who reigned in Satya Yuga. People are of the belief that this Kedarnath Dham is the place wherein Lord Shiva released Pandavas from debauchery of killing their own cousins Kauravas in the fight of Kurukshetra war.    If you go according to the Puranas, these Pandava brothers came with a large penance in Kedarnath to suffice Lord Shiva.  Initially this temple was built by Pandavas but the present day   temple was constructed by Adi Shankaracharya.  If you are thinking about visiting this temple, you can even try Kedarnath helicopter ticket booking. Situated at an altitude of 3584m above the sea level near the devout Mandakini River, this temple is edged with amazing snow roofed peaks. This temple is not directly reachable by road and an individual has to take on a fourteen kilometres uphill trek from the place Gaurikund to reach it.  The pilgrims often use manchan and pony   services so as to travel to this temple.   If you don’t know, this temple is also one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and therefore is held in extremely high esteem by Hindus. It is believed that any person who takes a Darshan of this spiritually rich place Kedarnath is going to be absolved of his or her sins and would get piety.

You must not skip these temples if you are really expecting something rich and holy. The sites and surroundings do add a pinch of delight, freshness and tranquillity during the yatra.
