Adventure Travel: Is it dangerous?

Adventure travel

Adventure travel is one of the hottest trends in tourism today. It is an amazing way to see the world, and it takes you off the beaten path. Away from crowded city centers and tourist traps, adventure travel provides you with a chance to truly get to know a destination. However, adventure travel has one often overlooked aspect. It is an aspect that can get you into trouble in more ways than one. Yes, adventure travel is dangerous and it could leave you hurt, injured, broke or even worse, dead.

Despite these dangers, adventure travel is a great way to explore the world and it’s that dangerous element that attracts so many people to experience it.

Fear of the unknown

Famous American author Mark Twain once said, “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.” Despite these wise words from a great writer, plenty of people spend their time camped out in one place.

Adventure travel is booming

In the last 10 years, adventure travel has hit an unprecedented rise in popularity. This type of tourism has made many travel experts, companies and hotels question whether the traditional family vacation is a thing of the past.

Adventure Tourism

Adventure travel is no longer just for young adults on vacation from college or those people backpacking instead of attending university classes. The average holidaymaker is now choosing to go off the beaten path. Why are more families and other individuals foregoing traditional holidays? One reason is the thrill adventures provide. These thrill seekers want to do something completely different and feel the rush of adrenaline course through their bodies. There is also a desire to share their adventure stories with friends, family and colleagues back home.

New Thrill-Seeking App

Traveling for adventure is great and I found a new app that all thrill seekers and adventure travelers must download. It’s called ThrillPiXx. It’s a cool new app that connects adventurers. It’s a great way to find, challenge and explore the world of thrills. ThrillPiXx focuses on adventure travel as well as nearby thrills and bridges the gaps in the thrill seeker community.

Rumor has it that the company is planning to release this app in June. You can follow them at @thrillpixx or ThrillPiXx.com to find out if that’s true.

To summarize, adventure travel can be a scary and dangerous thing; but travelers can overcome their worries and find an amazing trip. Once you open the door to adventure travel, you will never want to close it. Rather, you will just be waiting to rush back through it again and again.

  1. I definitely think there is some risk but hey just leaving your house is dangerous. To me If your on a trip and doing some sort of activity then that’s an adventure. Swimming in the pool with a pina colada at the resort, hey that’s one of my favorite adventure.

Let’s see what this ThrillPiXx is about. There been some disappointing attempts at this from others and Instagram is about posting your food and everything under the sun. So having a real thrilling community would be a good alternative.

    Thanks for this post.
